name "Garden City" when heard would probably be referring to a
neighborhood simply containing a lot of gardens and that was the intention
of Frantz Sofio, Charles Bacos and George Maksud,
owners of the Nile Land & Agricultural Company. In 1905 they asked
agricultural engineer José Lamba to create Cairo's newest district
on a plot of land which used to be royal domains of Kasr al-Aaly and two
older sarayas to the north. Work began on the banks of the Nile. |

Garden City is on the East Side of the Nile very close to downtown,
actually it represents downtown's front on the great river.. |

seem like the best thing to do not only because it would be very short.. |

1999 there was a series on Egyptian television based on a novel called
"Hawanem Garden City" meaning the great dames... |
